Clear Minds Therapy is committed to protecting your privacy and protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use and share your personal information when you use our website www.clearmindstherapy.co.uk

We follow the UK Data Protection Act 2018, the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law 2017 and other applicable laws. 

 We review our privacy policies on a regular basis, so this policy may change from time to time. The latest version will always be available on the website.  

 

Live chat service

Clear Minds Therapy service provides a live chat service to adults and children in the UK. The service aims to provide short term advice and guidance on mental health and emotional well being issues. It is not a crisis service or suitable for those who are experiencing suicidal thoughts.

You can use the live chat function on the Clear Minds Therapy website during our opening hours. We will reply to you with our help and advice. Our aim is to respond within 24 hours.

Our lawful basis for this is legitimate interests is to provide mental health support to those who need it.

 

Referrals

 Adults may refer a children to Clear Minds Therapy by completing a referral form, they may also refer themselves or another adult with their consent.

We collect personal information about the person making the referral, including their name and contact details. This is so we know who has made the referral and the relationship between them and the child or adult they are referring into the service. We may also share the referrer’s information with other organisations if we are worried about someone’s safety.

We will also collect the details of the person who is being referred into the service so we have as much information about them so we can ensure the support we give is appropriate.

Our lawful basis for collecting this information is legitimate interest in using your data to support you.

We may also collect your personal information when you contact Clear Minds Therapy. This includes:  

  • The phone number or email you use to contact us. 
  • The information you choose to share with us. 

 

When using Clear Minds Therapy, we may collect Special Category Data (SCD) that you share with us. This includes information about your health. This helps us to respond to your needs. This may include helping to refer you to a health service.  

 

How we use this information

We collect this information to support you and to the needs of people accessing the service so we can improve it in future. 

 Specifically, we may use information you share:

  • To provide the service to you
  • To signpost you to appropriate local services
  • To escalate safeguarding concerns
  • To contact you in response to a specific enquiry
  • To evaluate the service
  • To improve the service we provide

 

What we will do with your personal information

Clear Minds Therapy is the data controller for your personal information. By law, we have to make sure we:  

  • Only use your information for the purpose for which it was requested, 
  • Keep your information secure. 

We will tell you about organisations we intend to refer you to (unless we feel there are safeguarding concerns, see below).

 

If we are worried about your safety, we will work with you to collect more information so we can support you. If we are worried about your immediate safety, the team may need to break confidentiality so you can get urgent support.

We would only break confidentiality if you were:

  • being physically or emotionally hurt
  • being exposed to neglect
  • being touched inappropriately by an adult
  • suicidal
  • or someone you know was in imminent danger
  • a danger to yourself or someone else
  • or if there is a suspicion of terrorist activity.

 

Your information rights

You can ask to see any information Clear Minds Therapy holds about you, to have information corrected or erased. We are responsible for protecting your personal information, and we take this responsibility very seriously.
